Final Reflection

I wanted to write this specifically to my ENC 4265 Professor Johnson, or aka EKJ. I know that you are going to actually read this, so I just wanted to start off by saying hi!. How are you? I hope that you have had a great semester as well and that you enjoy reading this final reflection.
To start off, I actually really enjoyed this class. Right before this semester began, during Christmas break, I was thinking about how I really wanted to start a blog and post all of my baked goods there. I talked with one of my friends that also attends UCF, Amanda, and she gave me a couple of ideas, that of which included Wix. I was still not exactly certain how I wanted to go about creating a blog, but I was very excited to look into it. Low and behold, when I began ENC 4265, one of the main goals of the class was to have a website that I updated and posted on weekly. This was incredibly beneficial to me not only because I had to actually follow through with creating a blog, but because I had my grade resting on it as well. Due to this, I was very excited about my experience with this course. Not only was I blogging, but I was also having the opportunity to bake as well. It was really a win-win for me and I always knew that EKJ was going to read them as well. While there were some nights where I sat there and debated if turning in an assignment was truly that important, I always followed through and did it in the end.
Moving on, I learned a lot of different things. As I mentioned previously, I learned how to create a website. This was something that I thought would be much more difficult than it actually turned out to be. Similarly, I also learned how to create a good FAQ page, a working search bar, and a cute website concept overall. I also wanted to mention that I learned how to look at Step-By-Step tutorials better as well. After all, I did gain more insight from the critiques that EKJ left on my blogs, and without those critiques, I probably would have continued to think the way I was presenting information was perfectly fine.
Read. Read. Read. If I do not read, then I am not learning. That is all that there can be said for this. Even after I graduate within the next year, I need to continue reading books, articles, journals, etc, in order to learn anything at all. I think that if people choose not to read, they are wasting time, essentially. After all, there is so much knowledge within the world and if I don’t pick up a book, how am I supposed to find that knowledge?
As you know, I truly enjoyed writing blog posts about baking. There was just something about it that I really liked doing each week. While I completely understand the idea behind wanting to see if I could write in other ways than just one prompt was asking, I think that maybe it is possible to only have to do one or two different prompts but the rest can be what the student prefers. Of course, this is not referring to the Deliverables, considering the fact that those are necessary assignments, but the Reflections should really be what the student prefers simply because it is their website after all. Aside from that, I did enjoy reading any comments I received on my posts. Whether it was about how cookies sounded really good, or a suggestion about a different prompt, I feel as though they were definitely helpful to me personally.
Once again, thank you so very much EKJ. I will actually miss your class and writing blog posts that I know someone is going to read weekly. Thank you so much again, and I truly appreciate all that you have done for me this semester.
Regards,
Brooke
